papier fait de caca

Laurent and I went to a paper museum yesterday and learned about the history and methods of making paper.

In the sample, there was this piece of paper that was made with the caca of this elephant, Lin Wan (who is currently the oldest elephant in the zoo in Taipei). We were tricked to smell this caca paper (to guess what it was made out of.....) and it had a scent of hay.

The museum guide told us that anything that has fiber can be made into paper....so I asked if we can take our own shit to make paper (it can be a good way of recycling .) The guide said of course....but I am still a bit suspecious about the effeciency of it. That must be a lot of hard work

Sous l'ancien régime, le papier était fabriqué à côté des écuries royales à base de crotin de cheval, méthode la plus efficace pour la fabrication du papier. Malheureusement pour nos amis paysans, sachez qu'il est impossible de faire du papier avec de la bouse de vache, les ruminants ayant la particularité de digérer la chlorophyle... avis aux amateurs.

Before the french revolution, paper was made near horsehouse with horse shit, which is the best way for making paper. Infortunatly for paysans, cow shit is not good for making paper, because cows can digest chlorophila.

Petite erreur de ma part il n'est évidemment pas question de chlorophyle mais de cellulose... merci Bob Dylan* pour la correction.
